The Kent Companies Give $14,000 in College Scholarships to Team Members

On Thursday, Aug. 19th, The Kent Companies hosted its second Team Member Scholarship day where Owner and CEO, Bill Kent, gave out $14,000 in college scholarships to Team Members across all entities of the company. Recipients of the scholarships were Team Members who are currently students and newly hired to Baskin Robbins, Huddle House, Rustic Cafe, Kent Car Wash and Kent Kwik Convenience Stores. To receive the scholarship, the students had to work full-time from June to August.

Team Members and their families gathered at the corporate office of The Kent Companies where they were welcomed with balloon towers, finger food and a Baskin Robbins Ice Cream Cake. Before the handing out of the checks, Bill Kent, Owner, and Todd Watkins, President, spoke to the students and their families about the importance of education and the pride The Kent Companies takes in being able to help students. The students were then called up to receive their $1,000 checks and get their pictures taken.

Kent Kwik Tops Largest Donation to PBRC

On Sunday, April 18th, at the annual PBRC Telethon, Kent Kwik and The Kent Companies presented PBRC with a check for $119,700. This year’s donation is the largest donation The Kent Companies has presented in their 30+ year history of donating to PBRC. Last year, The Kent Companies broke over $100,000 for the first time and this year far exceeded all expectations. 2020 was a hard year for everyone and every business and it has been truly amazing to see how our community has come together to raise an amazing amount of money to help families all across the Permian Basin. Donations were collected by Team Members asking guests if they would like to round up their transaction total to the next dollar amount. The extra change that was collected was saved for PBRC. We plan on continuing this form of giving next year and beyond.

About PBRC, “Since 1953, the Permian Basin Rehab Center (PBRC) has served thousands of patients of all ages and abilities who find themselves in need. The PBRC is the Permian Basin’s only comprehensive, non-profit, multidisciplinary rehabilitation facility that provides speech, physical, occupational therapy and hearing/audiology services. The therapists of the PBRC reach a broad cross-section of the community and bring positive change into the lives of countless individuals.”

Round Up for Charity

Kent Kwik has launched a new Round Up for Charity campaign to make donations throughout the year to local charities. When guests check out, they will now be asked if they would like to round up their total to the next even dollar amount and donate the extra change to a local charity. These local charities include PBRC, CASA, Keep Haskell Beautiful and Big Brothers and Big Sisters. Kent Kwik and The Kent Companies as whole prides itself on their involvement in the communities they server. A core belief is serving the communities that serve us and the hope is that the Round Up for Charity program can allow for continuous giving.

The Kent Companies 2020 Charity Golf Tournament Update

After careful consideration, The Kent Companies has made the tough decision to cancel the 2020 Charity Golf Tournament. This decision was not made lightly but with travel restrictions and limitations at the golf course, we believe it to be in the best interest of attendees and our team members to simply forgo this year’s activities.

We thank everyone who registered for our event and we are giving all attendees and sponsors the option to either be refunded the amount they paid or to roll over their sponsorship and player-fees to next year. If you have not yet given your preference of refund or rollover, please contact Katie Roberts, kroberts@kentoil.com, 432-520-4000 ext.1387.

Our hope is to be back to our regular schedule and month with the next tournament being held in June of 2021.

Thank you for your understanding and we hope to see you all next year!
